Lauren has extensive training in premarital and couples' therapy, and she enjoys working with all types of couples. She also has broad experience working with families and individuals with various concerns, such as communication challenges, children with special needs, oppositional adolescents, anger, anxiety, and relational difficulties.
Clinical Approach and Goals:
Lauren’s approach to therapy utilizes Person-Centered, Solution-Focused, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy all within a Systemic model. Person-Centered therapy utilizes the idea that the direction of therapy is led by the client without judgment from the therapist, which helps the client feel accepted and more aware of his/her own feelings. Solution-Focused Therapy is goal-directed and focuses on the future instead of the past and on solutions instead of problems. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy assists clients in recognizing how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors can all influence each other. Utilizing a systemic model implies that Lauren continues to be mindful of how one’s family of origin and current family system can influence a person’s ability to handle anxiety and function emotionally.
Lauren will work with each individual within the context of their lifestyle, experiences, gender, and culture to determine which techniques and approaches work best. She may suggest that you consult with a physician regarding possible somatic treatments for your symptoms if needed. Lauren’s hope is that her genuine and open communication with you and your loved ones can help you to become more self-aware and mindful of your thoughts and behaviors and that you will be able to walk away from therapy with something that will enhance your relationships and well-being.
